Elizabeth Dawson – Principal A.R.A.D.

With over 46 years of professional dance and teaching experience, Elizabeth was one of the original full-time students & Scholarship recipients at McDonald College, studying with the school’s visionary founding director, Margaret Markham. Starting dance at the relatively late age of 14 years of age, Elizabeth gained her Advanced A.R.A.D. and became a member of the Tasmanian Ballet Company touring interstate and New Zealand in the early ‘80’s. 

Awarded the Royal Academy of Dance Teaching qualifications with Distinction, Elizabeth became Principal of the Kenthurst School of Dancing from 1988-2000 and continued teaching at highly respected dance institutions such as Capital Dance Studios and Ecole Ballet and Dance Theatre throughout the following decades. Many students of “Ms Dawson” – with her guidance and mentorship – now enjoy professional careers in the dance/theatre industries. 

Elizabeth has also enjoyed working  as Head Make-Up Artist on the television and movie sets of ‘Crime Investigation’ and ‘Mortal Fools’, alongside work at The Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and various Tropfest projects.

Clare Allan

“Miss Clare” is a long time beloved, highly respected Teacher at Elevate and is a graduate with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise & Sport) and Masters of Exercise & Sport Science – University of Sydney. Clare’s professional work as an Accredited Sport Scientist and Exercise Physiologist ensures students receive the best care when learning how the body benefits through correct dance technique.  Throughout the years in a vast array of dance genres, Clare has,and continues to welcome all students into Elevate’s safe, nurturing and fun environment created to foster their potential whilst having fun in learning the art of dance. 

With over 25 years of training and teaching in Ballet, Contemporary, and awarded the F.A.T.D. Gold Star for Tap and Modern with qualifications in First Aid and CPR, Clare is renowned for her outstanding teaching and rapport, particularly with junior students. As well as being a wife and mother of two beautiful little daughters, who of course already love to be a part of the Elevate family, Clare brings her intuitive expertise and children “management skills” to every class embracing the philosophy, “Trust your Intuition, you know you get the best in Tuition at Elevate”!


LARA HANCOCK

Alongside achieving a Masters of Teaching Degree from the University of Western Sydney, Lara is especially passionate about Classical Ballet, Tap and Musical Theatre, and has been dancing and performing for over 25 years.  As a greatly respected High School teacher, specializing in HSC English and High Performance Gifted Education, Lara’s love and expertise in the Arts inspires both her dance and secondary students.

Awarded the R.A.D. Vocational Intermediate and F.A.T.D Gold Star for both Tap and Modern, Lara brings her innovative teaching skills and performance experience in dancing and singing – both locally and overseas – to Elevate.   


 

 

 

Rhiannan  Jansen

Rhiannan is a graduate in Bachelor of Health Science (PDHPE) at the University of Western Sydney, plus has her Masters of Teaching (Secondary). As a highly respected PDHPE Dance Organizer/ Teacher at some of the local district’s excellent high schools, Rhiannan has helped many students in individual and team settings toachieve their academic, artistic and sport goals.  Initially training in Classical Ballet, Rhiannan found her true dance heart in street/urban/hip hop, dance genres in which she currently specializesas a performer and teacher. With a wealth of dance and teaching experience throughout the past 3 decades,Rhiannan has not only pursued a career as an accomplished High School teacher, but as an equally passionate sport participant and leader.  Rhiannan believes a wide spectrum of movement can provide a truly positive “vibe for the body, mind and soul”.


 

ROECHELLE LAMESE

Roechelle has a Diploma in Children’s Services  &  works as a respected Day Care Supervisor andEducator. With many years experience teaching dance and working with children, Miss Roe loves nurturing children’s confidence and social abilities through dance, bringing a genuine sense of joy to the classroom. Roechelle is happily married and proudly a mother of gorgeous twin girls, whom she “loves spending time with and watching them grow”

* As sisters, Miss Rhiannan and Miss Roe are an especially dynamic teaching and dancing duo at EDC. Together they have enjoyed many successful performances as individuals and in groups, with various shows & Hip Hop crews, including the 2015 & 2019 International Hip Hop Finals, achieving a world rating in the top 10.  Rhiannan was crowned NRL Cheerleader of the Year a few years ago and was feted in the media at the time!

Rhiannan & Roechelle bring a uniquely vibrant ‘street’ energy to EDC Hip Hop/Urban Movement, Contemporary and Jazz classes & are equally loved and admired as fantastic EDC teachers in their own right.


                                            Hayley Smith

Hayley is currently a Primary school teacher and leads her Senior Dance Group at performances each year, including “Pulse Alive”.Qualified with a Bachelor of Dance and PDHPE Education from ACPE to teach Kindergarten to Year 6, Hayley has enjoyed performing as a member of the Australian College of Physical Education Dance Company. Hayley has many years of experience in a wide spectrum of dance styles including Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Gymnastics and Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet. As a performer, Hayley has performed alongside Rhiannan and Roechelle at Hip Hop competitions. She has attained awards and represented New South Wales and Australia at Hip Hop Battlegrounds and Hip Hop International in 2015 and 2019, achieving a world rating in the top 10. She has received awards at multiple Eisteddfods and performed her own contemporary works at ACPE Annual Performances. Awarded the R.A.D. Higher Grades, Hayley also completed her F.A.T.D exams with High Distinctions in Tap and Jazz. Focussing on expanding her impressive skills repertoire, Hayley has trained with Tap expert, Thomas Egan from “The Tap Pack” as well as performing with the award-winning Femme Fatales of Tap, “Girls On Tap”. 


Tyler Fitzpatrick

Since graduating with distinction from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre and Technical Production) in 2018, Tyler has worked as a stage and production manager, lighting designer, producer and theatre maker in both Sydney and Wollongong. Tyler has been the Production and Operations Manager at Shopfront Arts Co-Op since 2020 and services arts organisations such as National Theatre of Parramatta, Merrigong Theatre Company, Milk Crate Theatre, Campbelltown Arts Centre and Griffin Theatre Company as a Production Associate with The Paperjam Partners. 

Amongst many achievements Tyler was awarded the 2022 Sydney Theatre Award for Best Lighting Design for an Independent Production for “Moon Rabbit Rising” presented at Belvoir 25A by The Little Eggs Collective. In 2021, she formed Purple Tape Productions championing new work by female and gender diverse artists in collaboration with Lily Hayman, and in 2023 will have shows across Sydney venues as well as interstate at Adelaide Fringe Festival. Tyler uses her theatre and design experience as inspiration for the dances she choreographs; experimenting with space, story and flow. With decades of dance experience in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and R.A.D Ballet, as well as physical theatre training in Body Weather,  Tyler was a student at EDC since 2006 before travelling from Wollongong to teach and assist with classes. Greatly loved and respected by Elevate students Tyler enjoys being part of the creative and supportive EDC dance family. 


Monika Rosic

Monika has completed a Bachelor of Primary Education at the Australian Catholic University and is currently teaching Kindergarten. With 18 years of dancing in a wide range of dance styles, Monika is especially passionate about Jazz and Contemporary. She was awarded “high achievement” in HSC Dance and PDHPE, receiving a callback for both Composition and Major Composition pieces, cementing her passion for choreography and the Arts.  Her PDHPE achievements have furthered her extensive knowledge of body performance with a deep understanding of how, through correct dance technique, safeguarding and nurturing dancers’ bodies are prime priorities.  As a respected and adored dance and Primary school teacher, Monika delights in assisting young individuals achieve their potential whether in the dance or school classroom.

Dancing at Elevate in a wide range of styles since she was 3 years old, Cartia continues to develop a passion for dance and performance. Cartia is currently studying a Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education at the Australian Catholic University, alongside working at an Out Of School Hours Care Service.  As well, she has established her own successful children’s party and  entertainment business “Parti with Carti” bringing great joy and fun to such special occasions, qualities she naturally brings to her dance classes. In the full range of dance genres offered at Elevate, Miss Cartia loves teaching and inspiring the children to realise their potential, helping them to achieve personal and collective artistic excellence.
